Dealers must not require you to purchase a specific insurance product.
BC law allows lenders to require that you have insurance to get financing to buy a vehicle. If you’re not sure, contact the lender to confirm if insurance is required and if so, what type.
You have the right to choose the company to buy the insurance from. BC law says dealers must not require you to buy insurance from them or from their supplier.
