Dealers must tell you certain things before you lease a vehicle
BC law says a dealer must tell you certain things before you lease a vehicle:
- Who is responsible for maintenance
- Who is responsible for the condition of the vehicle at the end of the lease
- What is defined as normal wear and tear
- Amount of tax in each payment
- Extended warranty costs, if any
- Insurance coverage you must provide
- Limitations on who may drive or where the vehicle can go
When you sign a vehicle lease, you have the right to cancel within one full business day. Usually, the dealer keeps the vehicle for that day unless you sign away your right to cancel. If you sign away that right, you also cannot cancel the lease.
If you cancel the lease agreement within one business day, the dealer must return your payments.
