Terms of the pay out and discharge of the lien on trade-in.
The lien pay out on trade-in section in your purchase agreement sets out the terms of the pay out and discharge of the lien.
If the purchase agreement says nothing about the lien, the dealer may still have a legal duty to make sure that loan is paid, and the lien cleared off the trade-in vehicle. Contact a lawyer to find out more about that duty.
If the dealer told you that it would not pay out the lien before the sale, the VSA cannot help you.
