A dealer must honour the lien pay out terms in the agreement.
Your purchase agreement states that the lien on the trade in will be paid and discharged. This agreement is a binding document. The dealer must honour promises made in the agreement. If the lien is not paid and discharged:
- Contact the dealer. Ask if they paid the lender to discharge the lien. It can take 45 days for the discharge to occur.
- If the dealer has paid the lender, contact the lender. Ask if they discharged the lien. It can take 45 days for the discharge to occur.
- Contact the The British Columbia Personal Property Security Registry for information on the lien.
