My Self-Help

I was not willing and capable of signing a valid contract

BC law says the VSA does not have the authority to help in contract disputes. For example, the VSA cannot help where you were willing and capable to sign a contract. Willing and capable means:

  • You had the chance to review and understand the contract
  • You signed the contract voluntarily

All adults are assumed willing and capable of signing a valid contract. This may not be the case in some special situations. These situations include:

  • You didn’t understand the contract because of a mental health issue.
  • You signed the contract under duress. Duress means acting under threat or pressure.

If you have a special situation, please contact the VSA.
