I want to file a formal complaint with the VSA.

The VSA has resources to help with filing your complaint. One is a Fact Sheet called Consumer Complaints about Motor Dealers and Broker Agents. This Fact Sheet provides information on what to expect after you make a complaint. It also has answers to frequently asked questions about the complaint process.

One your complaint is received, the VSA will review your complaint and decide what happens next. If the VSA has the legal powers to act on your complaint, the VSA will:

  • Facilitate dispute resolution between you and the dealer.
  • Send a copy of your complaint to the dealer for a response and share the dealer’s response with you.
  • If required, the VSA will investigate your complaint. In rare cases, complaint investigation may result in referring a complaint to a hearing by the Registrar of Motor Dealers.

Throughout the entire process, the VSA will keep you informed about the status of your complaint. The VSA will inform you about your complaint outcome in writing.

Please note that the VSA is not a court and can only assist you with certain concerns. Some matters may need the assistance of the courts.
