My Self-Help

Resolution Starts Here

The VSA can only help with some issues

BC law says the VSA can only help in some situations.

If your issue is not with the BC dealer licensed by the VSA, the VSA cannot help with resolving your issue.

If you bought from a private seller, you may wish to talk to a lawyer about your legal rights. A private seller means someone without a license to sell or lease vehicles. An example of a private seller is someone selling their own car.  A private seller in the actual business of selling vehicles without a license is a curber.  You can report them a “curber”. For more information about “curbers”, see this Curber Fact Sheet.

If you bought the vehicle out of province, you may wish to talk to a lawyer about your legal rights. There are also places in other provinces to contact for help.  For more information, click on this resource list.
